Overview
Your first visit to Omaha Pain Management Center involves a few special steps so that we can get to know you. To understand what to expect, please read through this page. You'll find all the practical information you need, such as a map and directions to our office, practice hours, payment policies and more. There is also background information about our commited staff and our first visit procedures. You can also save some time by printing out and completing the patient forms in advance of your appointment. If you are referred from your primary care physician or another physician on the day of your appointment, please remember to:
- Any medical records, diagnostic tests such as MRI's, X-rays, CT scans, EMG or any other test results that may be helpful to us.
- If your physician has recommended a specific pain injection, or if there is a possibility of injection, please:
- Do not eat or drink for 6 hours prior to your appointment
- Bring someone with you to drive you home who can stay with you for 24 hours after the proceedure
- Please do not bring valuables, jewelry or money to your appointment
- Wear loose, warm, comfortable clothing such as jogging clothes. Elastic waist pants are your best choice.
- If you have any concerns after your procedure please refer to the post operative discharge instruction sheet. If you have persistent pain unrelieved by your pain medication, persistent weakness or unusual numbness or loss of bowel or bladder control please go immediately to the nearest Emergency Room.
- Remember, your pain may not be relieved immediately. Many patients require several pain injections to relieve their pain. Patients may feel some numbness after the injection at the injection site. This is normal.
